Supporting the Center for Collaborative Change

Thank you for your interest in supporting The Center for Collaborative Change.

We are currently seeking support for our general operations, as well as for building on or initiating work in the following areas:
Sometimes needs go unmet in our city purely because of INFORMATION DISCONNECT.
  • Those with the ability to address unmet needs often lack information about their existence, prevalence, or importance to local stakeholders.  We aim to conduct a broad-based, citywide COMMUNITY NEEDS AND ASSETS REPORT every 2-3 years.  We use the information we generate from surveys, interviews, news and data reviews to guide our own activities, and share it to inform the work of other program-developers, policy-makers and philanthropists too.  Information from our first report can be found here, or you can contact us to receive a copy of our report.  Your support will help us do an assessment during 2012, and can be focused broadly or on particular focus areas such as Safety, Health or economic or educational Opportunity.
  • Where can residents or change-agents go to find comprehensive information about Newark’s existing needs, assets, services, and general data? There is no single place where this information can be found, let alone aggregated or layered. Building such a web-based resource would increase the effectiveness and efficiency of countless efforts across the city, multiplying our collective impact. If you are interested in learning more about what we mean, please check out this concept paper for what we are calling NEWARK-360.

Sometimes needs go unmet in our city because of EXPERTISE DISCONNECT.

  • How can we connect the vast professional expertise of our corporate sector in Newark to the under-resourced efforts of our nonprofit and governmental community servants and change agents? The Center is setting out to connect these needs and resources to make Newark thrive by establishing what we are calling the pro bono CHANGE BROKERAGE.
  • How can we support people with innovative or proven models for addressing priority issues to start them from scratch or expand their reach to Newark? The Center is setting out to connect these people, ideas and resources to make Newark thrive by establishing a social innovation incubator that we are calling the Newark ACTION LAB.

We have great appreciation for the many generous individuals and organizations who have supported our work to date at our launch event, first anniversary celebration and beyond.

As a new nonprofit getting started in difficult economic times, every contribution — big or small, in cash or in kind — makes a significant difference and is greatly appreciated. Donations are accepted via credit card or check (PO Box 32711, Newark NJ 07102).

Here are some specific items high on our in-kind wish list:

  • Travel miles, both airline and Amtrak.
  • Professional services such as bookkeeping, printing services, grantwriting, administrative assistance, or fundraising event planning.
  • Office equipment such as laser printers, blackberries, iPads, iPhones and laptops.

Please contact us if you’d like to donate in kind goods.

Thank you!
